Her continuing education has included training in grief counseling and surviving sexual abuse at the American Academy of Bereavement; Progoff’s “Intensive Journaling” and Spiritual Discernment with licensed spiritual directors; dream work, including course work at Pacifica Jungian Institute; “Imago Relationship Therapy” with National Imago Therapy Association; Contemplation and Community interfaith conference for university chaplains at Garrison Institute; addictions recovery through 12-Step programs; courses in spiritual guidance, spirituality and social justice; and “Interplay: Mind, Body, and Spirit Together At Last,” Graduate Theological Union. She did Clinical Pastoral Education at University of California, San Francisco, working with terminally ill children and Spanish-speaking migrant workers. She has worked as a church pastor and as a Hospice chaplain. She has also worked with refugees in the Sanctuary movement and experienced liberation theology in Central America.
In addition, Christiansen is fluent in Spanish and German, has a background in peacemaking, has taken groups of university students on 7 international service-learning trips, has a Master’s in Music in Piano Performance, and in 2004 became certified in “Healing Touch,” a way of working with the human energy field to help restore balance and alignment.
Peggy is a passionate practitioner of deep listening, with a learner’s mind and a lover’s heart. One of her favorite guiding quotes is by Rumi:
“Feel yourself being quietly drawn by the deeper pull of what you truly love.”
