Capital Campaign
THE TIME HAS COME TO CREATE A PHYSICAL SPACE THAT REFLECTS OUR VISION.
Our current building is in need of heavy repairs and expanded space. We are parterning with
The Institute for the Built Environment at CSU (IBE)
to explore options for a creative expansion project designed to better serve our community and honor
our physical environment.
In pursuit of the highest good, we set a goal of raising $500,000 in order to:
1. Purchase our building and land.
We have successfully secured the funds needed in order to purchase our current building! In addition to over $125,000 we raised from generous gifts, we were offered a loan from anonymous donors in the amount of $190,000 to cover the $315,000 property purchase. Therefore, on Thursday, July 28, we finalized the purchase of 629 S. Howes in Fort Collins! We will continue to raise funds in order to pay back the loan and reach our campaign goal of $500,000.
2. Fund the planning process with IBE.
The initial stages of this planning process began on June 3, 2011, as we hosted a visioning workshop with IBE that focused on the redevelopment of the Geller Center. The visioning workshop was a collaborative, multidisciplinary workshop (also known as a charrette) that brought together about 40 people from the community to engage in creative visioning. IBE facilitates these types of workshops by bringing together diverse groups of community members for a creative planning process that is dynamic and interactive. Further, IBE focuses on sustainable and regenerative building, and during this workshop they used the LENSES (Living Environments in Natural, Social, & Economic Systems) Framework to guide the project—a new framework that creates dialogue and action toward regenerative practices. It was an incredible day of visioning, dreaming, creating, and sharing. From the discussion and visioning that took place, architect Greg Fisher created conceptual drawings for the redevelopment of the Geller Center. 3. Restore our financial foundation.
In other words, we need to build up the reserves for our operating funds while we continue our programs and carry-out our plans for redevelopment of the property. One of the best ways you can help us in this capacity is to sign up as a Geller Center automatic monthly donor. The automatic monthly donations that we receive each month are essential, as they provide funding we can rely on. If you are interested in becoming a monthly donor, please visit our website donation page, fill out a monthly donation form, and send the form to the Geller Center.
The time is ripe.
Join us as we blossom.
